More Love More Life More Music
von Melanie Haefner
„Music is a source of life, it is what keeps you moving on no matter the time, no matter the place, no matter the weather. If you got music on your side you can face any ups and downs. You can climb any mountain. You will always find a place to call home.“ (OYA)
I got to know the OYA band at a charity concert in early 2015. I was immediately taken by the joie de vivre that these guys express on stage through their music. The artists, who come from five different nations, enthral us with powerful, dynamic tunes that send rhythmic waves through our hearts and invade our whole bodies. The Band’s name, OYA, refers to the depth of feeling that flows into the musicians’ playing, sending to the audience a concentrated charge of good vibes, giving them a brief sensation of freedom. Aziz, Joshua, Ned, Stefan, Yasar, Jacob und Bini may have different cultural backgrounds but they experience and display deep mutual understanding and togetherness. And it is perhaps precisely because of their cultural diversity that their “Roots Rock Raggae” moves and rejoices their audiences so intensely. I have been accompanying the musicians with my camera since March, at charity events, festivals, concerts and rehearsals, and occasionally as well in their “normal” day-to-day life. Reggae Outta Berlin Town. Feel it!
